With a strong focus on unique electronic sounddesign and structures, v/a - Vortex has turned into a solid collection of next level sonic wizardry.
All of the artists involved have dedicated an extremely respectable amount of time and effort to sculpt their submission until it was perfect.
Could it be possible that 1 reason for this has to do with the fact that v/a - Vortex was a compilation that simply needed to be made?

NTT045 Idle Sunder - Psygnosis I

Having worked closely with Bogdan Dullsky (Quest.Room.Project - see NTT043) on this 1st album of the Psygnosis trilogy, Idle Sunder has transcended the space drone boundaries they were once confined to, to visit a universe of remarkably visual minimal rhythms and manipulated instruments/recordings.
All of the tracks contain a great diversity in both sound and style, while retaining a quite conceptual atmosphere which holds ground in between existential and psychological ideas that are sure to be elaborated on throughout the remainder of this project.
A word of thanks goes out to all the people that have made a contribution in one form or another:
levinj, Suonho, djgriffin, NoiseCollector, Melack and Bram at Freesound for sound sources, Winne Clement for the flute in track 8 and once again Christian Jehle for the nice cover art.

From ancient times human experienced exciting feelings at the sight of the night sky covered in stars, personifying space and all that is connected to it.

In this collection musicians have presented their view, at times unexpected, on connection of music, space, stars, planets, galaxies.

Part A - ambient, psycho, electroacoustic, avant-garde, experimental, sound art, etc.
Part B - electro, post-IDM, electronica, etc.

Part A

Neotnas - a minimal prelude on a sound background from other worlds. After participation in the compilation "Slavosonic" (Dars records) this project from Chelyabinsk (Russia) was in time much: music to performance " White dance " (theatre-studio " Aritmia ", 2006), music to performance " Sports for idiots " (studio " Maneken ", 2006), new soundtrack to the first film of horrors " The Cabinet of doctor Kaligari " \ " Das Cabinet Des Dr Caligari " (R.Vine, Germany, 1919) within the limits of the project "Electrotheatre".

RachMiel - "old friend" Rick Scott, participated in compilation "Slavosonic". Red planet - imagined "field recording" of Mars taken during a solar flare when the sonic winds and sand creatures were unusually active.

Circumjecta – ambient project , based by Andrey Zots, Moscow, earlier published on Motovilo records . The participant of experimental project Bip Soup, - the unique collective playing at concerts a improvise techno without use of computers. Voodoo breath of space jungle.

Noirum - Michael Rudenko from Chelyabinsk, before known as Amiable Freak. On the account of the project - performance on an experimental platform Ural region of Russia festival ~Electroline~, passed in club Garage Underground. Space ambient. Capsule, - flown to us from "others".

E’lif Linx - musician Sergey Sergeev nowadays living in Moscow. Its career has begun in the beginning 90. At present the project possesses very individual sound combining such styles as ambient, electronic, post-IDM. The album on Dars records in which acoustic and orchestral tools are used is recently published.

Nightech - does not require representation for fans dark ambient in our country and it is far behind its limits. The talented founder ambient structures Ed Sherbakoff living in the Ural industrial city of Serov. Since 2001 it has written down and has released ten original albums on various labels in Russia and in the World. After work has been published on CD by the Moscow label Lagunamuch community.

Ifyou - the producer from St.-Petersburg Lastochkin Nikita creating electronic music in styles ambient , IDM, debuted in 2006 on compilation Squiggle Trigger (Kahvi.org) with three tracks (one has been written under a pseudonym niteteck).

QuestRoomProject – aka Q.R.P. aka Quest. Room. Project, the engine of the project - Bogdan Dullsky. It is masterful the written sound collages passed through filters of electroacoustics and musique concrete. The interesting project, which albums were published by Belgian net label Entity (2007) and Russian Electrosound (2006).

Vmaya - Vadim Frolov from Chelyabinsk follows the guiding star. Its name - Nbe.

Indu Mezu - the project from Novosibirsk, writing also music under mark Instant Movie Combinations, the owner of label Misfake Studio , specializing on limited CD-R editions.

Roman Slavka - the electronic musician from Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine. From the middle of 2002 year on the end of 2006 there was the organizer and the participant of the Ukrainian experimental project a Thirteenth Month of Consciousness (ТМС) together with Evgenie Sklyar. Since September of 2005 - the participant of the Dnepropetrovsk creative association - Template. From 2007 year, is engaged in music solo. For this time has published release Amb01 on Russian net label Silence Collector, has taken part in the some people compilation of the Russian labels. At present music of the Roman Slavka it mainly dark ambient with elements of noise, glitch, abstract.

SourKream - the beautiful sound cloth of the musician from Ekaterinburg (Russia), mainly working in styles hard IDM, breakcore is unexpected ambient.

Ahaytukam - you understand, that this such, but cannot tell. Music Ahaytukam is those also, not constraining a pattern of sounding of a cliche, dares to catch an essence of a present situation.

Magotronika - whether there is in space a magic? Or in magic - space?

Part B

Mox - the project based Mikhail Salnikov which also is known as the participant of projects Poostosh, QUTH, Tooth Kink, Riddim Killers, Titlo, Mox_Delphinov. The history the Mox has begun in 2001 after a debut in the collection « Tell to Tchaikovsky of news » a Russian label "Exotic" after which interesting works, including joint with other musicians - Ethnica music project (NetLenka) have been published many, Alexey Borisov, etc.

Lazer Kontinent - the project from Murmansk into which structure enter Kirill Junolajnen and Igor Stepovoj. Has started to function in the beginning in 1990. In a basis of a track - lecture on microgravitation under accompaniment corresponding sound .

Serge Tereshkine feat. 2Can - Sergey Teryoshkin - the electronic musician, a sound producer, DJ. The founder of label Melomania Track Fly to has been made together with dj 2 Can (Jacob Pustilnik).

ABC Galaxy feat. 0:28 - in the creativity Roman Scarednov develops some lines - romantic, is cynical IDM, not being limited to one concrete style. Per 2003 project ABC GALAXY focused, on the priest a sound close to disco, electro has been created. An abundance strings in style in the eighties, melody. The rhythms focused on a dancing, urging on to move a body. To one of sources of inspiration became computer toy Vice Sity. Track “Cosmos – Dom Rodnoi” is created on opposition of two tendencies 0:28 and ABC GALAXY. The sound is deliberately deprived depth, polyphony, melodies and as a whole looks as a parody on IDM a cliche.

Modul - the project from Krasnodar which structure includes 3 persons - Schukin Evgenie (Vega), Tochilkin Alexander, Fomin Evgenie. The project is engaged in creation of music in styles IDM / Ambient / Minimal Techno / Techno / Electro. Except for work in studio the project is engaged Live in performances in styles IDM / Techno. At creation of music and on Live performances are used both software means and hardware, and also virtual tools of own development are widely applied. Modul cooperates with various musical projects and creative collectives, in various branches of modern experimental art (Clapan, The Posthuman Experience (Clapan and Negative Light), Mendelayev, Nien, Hkey Oberheim, E. Guss). By present time the big list of actions in which project (Live performances in clubs of the country, participation in airs, etc.) is saved up participated. In the list of labels with which the project works: Electrosound, Phonocake, Nishi, Dars records.

ILI – Oleg Semenovyh, rather vigorous track is presented to compilation, alongside with digital a resynthesis uses sounds digiridoo, - the new variant of a space sound.

Koordinate of Wonders - I know not so many projects from Belarus, but " Koordinate of Wonders ", after the first acquaintance, have for ever lodged in my personal "top". Gloomy and beautiful, unexpectedly rigid track of the project. Miracles will be relocated in space.

Poluse - the project from Petersburg, is known since 2000, was published on label Zvezda, performances of the project in clubs GEZ-21, "Moloko", "Facultet", at festivals Plug and Play. Among with whom Poluse acted: Fizzarum, Stoloff and Hopkins, Cursor Miner, EU, Alexandroid, SCSI-9, Netslov, Sintetika, Zelany Rashoho, Klutch, PCP. On the 5 anniversary of parties In Beat We Trust in club " Tunnel " it plays together with favourites of world breaks-stage Atomic Hooligan.

Ongori feat. John Smeck - electronic experimenters Tchernikov Artem (Ongori) and Chebykin Evgenie (John Smeck), well-known in circles of fans of electronic music, are assured, that it is possible to fly to space and without a rocket. Possessing secret knowledge, they have visited many other worlds, and their songs comprise secrets of the Universe.

Tisane is Artem «Dozen» Vorontsov and Aigul «Gooka» Gabitova. For rather short musical career, balancing on the verge of ambient, idm and minimal techno, they had time to let out a solo album for a network label and to participate in set of collections. Contrary to occuring among a wide part of an audience to opinion, that the electronic music created mainly in house conditions by means of computers, is "lifeless" and is frequently deprived emotional painting, actors undertake own example to subvert this myth.

Horda - Anatoly Zubkov (Drumhead / Natan), the participant of the project «Aritmiya» and Scum Cells / Morphscum - (Styles: Breaks, Experimental, IDM).

Liq - The project exists since 1999. In structure of - Sergey Scherbakov and Denis Bukov. It is let out two albums on Samopal Records at support Grief Recordings. Debut performance - festival Virus-1 in club " Cruiser ". Since 2006 - sessions of musicians with participation of musicians of a blues and wind instruments. the track presented by the project - most dub in compilation. Space and dub- twins brothers.

Monokle - an embodiment of ideas of two musicians - Vlad Kudryavtsev and Alexander Kumach from Arkhangelsk. It is known on the album which has been let out by net label Electrosound. Not all so is gloomy in space, - and this track - to that acknowledgement.

Bogdan Dullsky (QRP) explores with "Room Number" in great depth the borders of abstraction and absurdity. He renders a world consisting of the strangest harmonics, dancing around a variety of instruments (such as flute and bass guitar) which he plays very proficiently.
Skillfully designed sounds are excessively displayed and the sheer number of them alone will never leave you bored.

Quest.Room.Project - Room Number - Fiducial Banality

A gentle flute motive introduces us to the world of Quest.Room.Project from Russia, and one might at first expect a relaxed listening experience. But by the time more voices chime in, it becomes obvious that these spotlights are going to be swallowed by shadows of tragic compassion. "Room Number: Fiducial Banality" is organised in 4 parts (one could as well define them as movements, because there are some key themes occuring throughout the entire release) and each of them features a room with distinct acoustic characteristics:
"The reason for surfacing" appears like a shadow of a doubt that gradually turns into overwhelming certainty. Almost inaudible at the beginning, "Assemblage" soon escalates to several emotional outbursts, before exhaustion will take its tribute in "Possesion" and create a haunted, threatening atmosphere. As reminiscence of the beginning, "Combined Exercises" begins with a flute solo and continues to pick up previous motives to escalate them to a wall of sound. Finally the dissonances wither away and make room for the last remnants of the ever occuring flute theme. A cycle has been completed and we are at the beginning again...
Bogdan Dullsky, the creative head behind the Quest.Room.Project, describes his intentions on the project's website as "a search of space for the life leaving for borders of habitual linearity". But "Room Number: Fiducial Banality" doesn't attempt to descibe a solution to break free: It's left up to the listeners themselves to recognise their personal ever returning patterns of life and change them by their own strategy. or - as Bogdan concludes - as an "attempt to live by some own rules on which borders it is possible to breathe freely". - Olliver Wichmann

Room Number: Fiducial Banality is released by the Test Tube netlabel and performed by Quest.Room.Project. This Russian ensemble creates walls of sounds that are both aesthetically pleasing and sensually over-powering. Composer Karlheinz Stockhausen dies

Avant-garde German composer Karlheinz Stockhausen has died at the age of 79.

One of the most important and controversial postwar composers, he helped shape a new understanding of sound through electronic compositions.

Stockhausen, who gained fame through his ground-breaking works in the 1960s and 70s and later moved into composing works for huge theatres and other projects, died at his home in the western German town of Kuerten on Wednesday, his publisher the Stockhausen Verlag said.

A free-to downlad tribut CD on Russian Netlabel Musica Excentrica is paying hommage to Iannis Xenakis. This is not just THE Greek composer of the 20th century - he is the archetype of the modern composer as such and possibly the last true superstar of the genre: Musically creative beyond any comparison, with a sense for the rediscovery of rhythm as an important element long before the ascent of techno and a sensibility for the interests of an audience outside of academic circles. Which is again clearly demonstrated by the line-up of the participating artists to this album, which are almost all rather from the side of cutting edge electronica than the avantgarde.

Included on “Tribute to Iannis Xenakis” are: Kenneth Kirschner, Kevin M. Krebs, Alexei Borisov, Quest.Room.Project, Zenial vs Phillip B. Klingler, CD-R, and Alva Noto. While the inclusion of common creative license proponent Kirschner may not be such a big surprise, getting Alva Noto, famous for his solo releases on German Raster Noton and his collaborative efforts with Ryuichi Sakomoto, should certainly give the tribute the attention it deserves. His track, by the way, must surely be the most minmal piece of music I have ever listened to, consisting of nothing but a delicately varying frequency wave.

All contributions are exclusive to the compilation and underline the label's motto for “Tribute to Iannis Xenakis”: Also a mathematician, experimental engineer and architect, he is a true cult figure."
